PART 2 Saturdays second game for Polar and Grizzly

PART 2
Saturdays second game for Polar and Grizzly was against each other. Grizzly started strong taking the 4-0 lead which opened one too many buttons from the Grizzly players' jackets. Polar took back a few points during the first half by playing solid defence and moving the disc fast on offence. Comeback wasn't enough and Grizzly was able to score the needed points for the win. 15-9.

On Sunday Grizzly started against PirU. This was an anticipated matchup against them, expecting alot of running and grinding Mano-a-Mano and high level offences who like to play big. The first half started trading points and each taking one break point. Grizzly found another gear at the end of the half taking it 8-6.
The Second half seemed very similar to the first half, both teams taking break points but Grizzly was able to take a few more than PirU and the game 15-11. Important points in the round robin!
Polar was still hunting for their points. Next matchup was against Vaasa and the game didn't start promising, Saints taking a 3-0 lead. Polar was able to take it back to 3-2 in the windy conditions. Adjusting their zone they were able to find Saints' week spot. Long defences lead to long points and maybe emptied the gas tank from Polar who was not able
to convert all the turnovers. The Saints were able to take a few important points in the second half to take the win 12-7. Still a very good game from Polar against a solid team.

Last game of the weekend for Grizzly was against UFO from Tampere. 15-3 win against a similarly constructed team as Otso Polar - Young talents and experience mixed together. Ufo's solid deep game made a few points for them but probably another foot was already on the Hämeenlinnanväylä on this one. Polar's ascending game performances showed in the last game against Helsinki where they were able take it to the
universe point but sadly lose it. 13-12, but the team and coaches were happy about the new players stepping up more and more in each game.

Next games are in August. One more round robin game for both, Polar and Grizzly, and bracket, semis, placement game or something after that. Let us know if u know the system?? Photos:

Nationals PART 1 After the lockdown, all the canc

Nationals PART 1

After the lockdown, all the cancelled tournaments and other events it looked like we wouldn't be able to play this summer, but since the Covid-19 spreading here in Finland seemed to had slowed down enough we were able to start the season.
The unwanted but apparently needed longer off-season sparked the players very well and there has been lots of people attending the practises. We are especially happy to see many new faces in the practise willing to learn the secrets of the sport.

This year the Nationals are a bit different due to the shortened season. Six teams will play round robin and after that semis in two separate weekends and final in separate event. Last weekend was the first part of the series and Otso atteneded with
two teams OTSO Grizzly and OTSO Polar. Grizzly with the slightly more experienced team aiming for the highest podium and Polar with new hungry players mixed with experienced players for guidance.

On Saturday OTSO Polar started the games against the raining champion - Pirkanmaa United. Straight to the deep end as they say. Many of the players had their first games on the National level and others just hadn't played for a while and that showed as nervousness in the beginning. After shaking off the nerves
Polar started playing better, but PiRu showed why they have won the title two years in a row and took the game comfortably 15-4.

Grizzly played right after against the neighbours from Helsinki, HUT, Team, Helsinki Ultimate etc. Helsinki had won friendly scrimmage during the practise season and it was time to show that we can do better. Coach Niini emphasized that we need to be ready immediately when the game starts and we were even though Helsinki
took the break point to take the lead early in the game. After that it was a defensive game for Grizzly, giving only two points for Helsinki. Score 15-5. Coach Niini was happy.

We are back! We never left though. We have just be

We are back! We never left though. We have just been hibernating a bit longer this year.

Indoor season in a nutshell: 4th in Europe, 1st in Finland for the regular season without any losses. Final got cancelled, so no medal. Otso2 played phenomenal season.

But now it's time for the OUTDOOR season! Due to the current circumstances we are forced to approach the season differently than the previous years. We have started working out in small groups (keeping the safety distance ofc) to prepare ourselves for practising and playing when it's safe again.
Last week we had a team meeting online and it was nice to seen some old faces but also few new ones too! Stay safe peeps and keep your high fives in the air but far from touching, sooner or later we'll meet on the fields 🐻

Winner winner chicken dinner! Otso won the tour 3

Winner winner chicken dinner! Otso won the tour 3 and earned the spot in national final without any loss in the regular season. Final will be played in Pasila on 14th of March against @vaasasaints .

Otso2 fought hard for the bronze medal spot but fell short finishing fifth at the tour. 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻
